Marico Innovation Foundation accepting applications for 3rd Innovation for India Awards

UPDATE: The deadline has been extended until October 31st. So anyone interested can still apply.

On March 12th, 2010 the Marico Innovation Foundation will announce the winners of it Innovation for India contest, which honors three categories: Business Innovation (Products/Services, Business Model and Innovation in social space by a business organisation); Social Innovation (innovation by a social organisation); and Public Services Innovation (innovations by Central or State governments or any wing of the government including public-private partnership).

Winners will receive a cash prize of RS 1 lakh and access to the foundation’s governing council for advice and support. For more information on the application process click here.

The Marico Innovation Foundation was formed in 2003 under the initiative of Dr. Ramesh Mashelkar. The Foundation’s Mission is to Fuel Innovation in India, by providing the nation with a belief that Innovation is possible and is the way to leapfrog India into the center stage of global business leadership. The Foundation also believes that a framework will enable leverage innovation for quantum growth. The foundation is steered by a governing council that oversees both its vision and direction.

Vinay Ganti

Vinay is in his fourth year of a four year JD/MBA program at the New York University School of Law and the Leonard B. Stern School of Business in New York City. Prior to coming to New York, Vinay graduated from Brown University, worked in technology transfer as a consultant and also founded a financial literacy program for underprivileged youth. Currently, Vinay is an InSITE Fellow for Venture Capital and Innovation. His primary interests are in the social venture capital investing space and its role in transforming micro-businesses into globally competitive SMEs. After school, Vinay wants to create novel ways to provide clean energy & water to the world’s poor.
